I expected nothing less

From a college football season that made Appalachian State a household name, made the No. 2 ranking a feared objective and the BCS crumbling right in front of our eyes, the bowl games at the quarter pole haven't disappointed.

This has been one of the strangest years in college football to date. There were at least four teams with a legitimate shot at a national title but the BCS suits opted for Louisiana State, mainly because they conquered their conference.

Last night's Texas-Arizona State Holiday Bowl even had a coach get in on the bloopers.

But everything didn't happen on the field this year. The endless search for a Michigan coach finally ended with West Virginia fleeing for Ann Arbor, which didn't waste any time by suing their former coach for the $4 million buyout.

But best is yet to come. However, that doesn't mean USC and Georgia won't lose quasi home games against Illinois and Hawaii in the Rose and Sugar Bowls.
